The Oldest Cutlery Manufacturer in the United States: Lamson's Artistry and Functionality
Established in Massachusetts in 1837, Lamson is proud to be the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States. Our name is synonymous with American artistry and carries with it a distinguished history - in 1869, newly-elected US President Ulysses S. Grant was presented a 62-piece Lamson dinner set at the White House, with pieces of this extraordinary gift remaining on display at the Smithsonian Institution.
Today, our talented artisans still handcraft each piece in western Massachusetts, offering an extensive selection of elegantly functional products, including laser-cut and forged cutlery, kitchen tools, and trade tools. With designs as diverse as the professional and household needs we supply, Lamson products are at once high-performing and stylish, traditional and innovative.
A Fusion of Artistry and Functionality
Our knives and kitchen tools are created for expert chefs and home culinary enthusiasts alike. The Vintage Series features an updated ergonomically friendly hand-finished stabilized walnut handle that has a traditional, timeless look and feel. The sleek integrated bolster allows for a traditional or pinch-grip, while the brass rivets complement the walnut handle and accent the stainless steel blade. The Chef's Knife, the workhorse of the kitchen, boasts a broad blade that dices, slices, and chops fruits, vegetables, and meats while protecting knuckles from hitting the cutting board.
Signature Craftsmanship and Unmatched Quality
Meticulously crafted, each of our knives is finished to perfection using state-of-the-art technology coupled with hand finishing as well as proprietary polishing and sharpening processes. Blades are forged from proprietary high-carbon stainless steel (Grade 420HC-LAM), and knives come with sleek and sturdy handles of Infused Walnut. Our blades are precision laser-cut and tempered to a hardness of 58 on the Rockwell scale, resulting in a hard, wickedly sharp blade that retains an edge for longer and is both highly corrosion-resistant and elastic.
Superior Performance and Durability
Full tang blades with double brass riveted handles ensure ideal balance and weight, while a curved and recessed integrated bolster provides a seamless transition from handle to blade, resulting in comfortable thumb and finger support for better control and safety. Walnut Kitchen Knives are not dishwasher safe; instead, they should be rinsed and washed in warm soapy water, dried off thoroughly with a soft cloth, and then stored. To keep the Walnut handles looking good, we recommend a light application of mineral oil every few months.
As we move toward a third century in a business we've long exemplified, our mission remains steadfast: to aim for nothing short of American-made perfection. Experience the products handcrafted with care and deep-rooted in tradition: Experience Lamson.
