Established in 1837 in Massachusetts, Lamson takes pride in being the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States. Our name is synonymous with American artistry and carries a distinguished history – in 1869, newly-elected US President Ulysses S. Grant was presented with a 62-piece Lamson dinner set at the White House, and pieces of this extraordinary gift remain on display at the Smithsonian Institution.
Today, our talented artisans still handcraft each piece in western Massachusetts, offering an extensive selection of elegantly functional products, including laser-cut and forged cutlery, kitchen tools, and trade tools. Over the years, we have survived major world events, difficult financial times, and even a natural disaster that forced us to relocate from our original factory. Despite these challenges, our spirit and commitment to American craftsmanship have not diminished. On the contrary, these experiences have inspired a renewed celebration of our heritage – the superior quality, service, and passion for excellence that would make our founders proud.
With designs as diverse as the professional and household needs we supply, Lamson products are at once high-performing and stylish, traditional and innovative. As we move toward a third century in a business we've long exemplified, our mission remains steadfast: to aim for nothing short of American-made perfection. Experience products handcrafted with care and deep-rooted in tradition: Experience Lamson.
For Asian cuisine, a big, well-balanced cleaver like this one serves nearly all kitchen cutlery needs. The stainless-steel blade, 8 by 3-1/4 inches, slices thinly and evenly, giving a cook control, speed, and uniformity in cutting tasks while providing enough weight for tougher jobs. The round walnut handle, with a brass fitting between it and the blade, fits snugly in the hand.
This classic Chinese Cleaver also functions as a Chef's knife for chopping and slicing vegetables and boneless meat, and then transferring food to the pot. It is made of hardened and tempered high-carbon stainless steel, with walnut handles that are unusually hard and durable (natural color may vary). The cleaver is secured with a brass ferrule and measures 12.25"L x 4.5"H x 1.25"W, with a blade length of 8" and a weight of 7.45 oz.
To maintain the walnut handles, it is recommended to avoid the dishwasher and instead rinse and wash them in warm soapy water, dry them thoroughly with a soft cloth, and store them properly. To keep the walnut handles looking their best, a light application of mineral oil every few months is suggested.
